As a Manager, or Fire Site leader, having a fire alarm go off in the middle of the night can be a real headache.

While in most cases the event may not be an actual fire incident, the cost to your Company may takes its toll if the alarms go off repeatedly.

The simple answer could be a fire protection system pressure drop due to old underground pipes.

A recent customer with this problem had their issues resolved by adding Peerless FireConnect® to their alarms. One the installation had been completed the customer saw an immediate benefit. From a visual perspective, the customer could easily see how many times the jockey pump was running as well as the length of time it ran.

When the same customer had another incident a few weeks later, he was able to diagnose and monitor the pump room activity from his own home. Opening the Peerless FireConnect® dashboard, he could see that there was no system flow and that the pressure was being maintained right at the shutoff pressure the pump was listed for, meaning no sprinkler heads has opened and thus, no fire.

Upon review of the Peerless FireConnect® event log to see why the main pump had started, it showed that it had started due to a simple pressure drop.
