Up on the roof!

Challenge

A customer, a world famous Parfumier, has a roof garden and it needs watering.

Solution.

Collect waste grey water (kitchen sink etc) from the offices beneath in a self-contained pump unit and pump to the roof to a decorative holding tank that feeds the plants.

Benefits

The client gets to use the same water twice, beautifies their building, adds another green space to an urban landscape, and decreases their carbon footprint too! Great stuff, and so simple.

World Water Day : March 22nd, 2020

Water and Climate Change World Water Day is observed annually on March 22nd, 2020 to raise awareness about the vital importance of water in safeguarding human security and maintaining the health of the planet’s ecosystems.

Created by the United Nations, the goal of World Water Day is to bring aide to people who truly need it across borders.

Having been involved with many water projects in Africa for refugees and others for remote and isolated populations, we know how important it is to get it right, and as fast as possible.

Without water, there is no human life. Use it wisely!

Spare parts are really boring!

Spare Parts are really boring!

Asked to write about spare parts I wondered whether there was ever a subject more boring!

HOWEVER! When your factory shuts, your ship stops sailing, your office is freezing cold (or boiling hot in the summer) for want of pump spare parts they become a lot more interesting.

Therefore, if you need some spares, or want a spare seal or bearing on the shelf, just-in-case, do let us know before it gets critical.

If it becomes an emergency and you do suffer a breakdown, we have all kinds of options regarding supplying spares, repairing a unit for you, or even getting on site for you to fit a new pump.

Grundfos Pumps

We have been supplying our excellent customers since 1980 with Grundfos pumps, and you keep coming back for more!

In 1980, there were some multistage pumps, borehole pumps, and heating circulators.

Now, the range is truly enormous. Take a look at the pictures!

And, there are loads more! Ask us, we can go on and on about how good these are!!!

My pumps have sunk!

At Harwich docks, there was a requirement to have the fire main fed by seawater. Given that the dock is next to the sea, this shouldn’t really be difficult, should it?

The water is there, and plenty of it, and to install the necessary equipment in the sea resulted in a few scratched heads.

On land, to install pumps in a pit or wet sump, we simply drain it and install the pumps in the dry. Clearly this is not possible in the North Sea!

Also, you cannot drop the pumps onto the dock floor. They have to be secured and removed safely from above for maintenance.

Cougar’s solution

Using standard pumps, in marine specification, we fabricated a cage and frame to carry the pumps. This was then lowered into position and fixed to the dock wall by a specialist firm of divers. After a couple of attempts, aggravated by tides, the whole structure was firmly attached in place.

Customer benefits

Providing industry standard units that could be repaired and replaced without the need for anybody to enter the sea. We love a challenge!
